Scribbling in the Margins

Memorial Day Haul 2015

I know what you're thinking:

How delayed is this haul? It's June 6, for goodness sake.

But take a look around. Where are you? Yes, it's Scribbling in the Margins. But it's Scribbling in the Margins 2.0.

Exciting stuff, no?

It could still use some tweaking, but I'm working out the bugs as I go. I'm not a designer by any means and my designing friend is doing good in Peru so I will have to wait for her return in order to fully complete the site. But for now, I think it's looking pretty good. And if you haven't already, please tell me what you think. I want to know!

Okay, okay. On with the haul!

Every Memorial Day, Half Price Books has a 20% off sale and my family loyally goes to check it out. This year I grabbed three books: Vladimir Nabokov's The Tragedy of Mr. Morn, Truman Capote's Breakfast at Tiffany's, and Signing Their Lives Away, a collection of brief biographies of the men who signed the Declaration of Independence.

The Tragedy of Mr. Morn

I honestly know very little about this play. I saw it on the shelves and was intrigued. After a quick scan of the Goodreads page, it seemed like something I'd like to check out. Into my pile it went!

Breakfast at Tiffany's

I saw the movie and frankly, I didn't get it by the end. People say there are a lot of deep meanings behind Holly Golightly but I didn't see them in the film. Since I'm a book person, I thought I'd try the story line in word form first, then maybe try a second viewing.

Signing Their Lives Away

My favorite historical period is colonial America, including the Revolutionary War. This is a quick way to learn about all the men who signed the Declaration of Independence and the type of history book I can get behind.

So onto my "summer to-read" stack these go! What are you looking forward to reading this summer? Any new books to report on?
